UW Symphony
The UW Symphony Orchestra tours throughout the Rocky Mountain region as well as hosting performances right here in Laramie. Concerts may feature collaborations with world-class soloists and University students along with a few community members. Under the direction of Dr. Michael Griffith since 1989, the symphony draws large crowds for regular concerts for each season. See the schedule here.
Ensembles
The University’s music program is expansive, including jazz ensembles, a wind symphony, chamber orchestra, percussion ensemble and pan band, and three choir ensembles. The Balinese gamelan band is a special treat, as well as the well-known Western Thunder Marching Band.
Theatre & Dance
The Department of Theatre & Dance stages a wide range of performances, conferences, and events featuring students’ performing artistry. Recent renovations in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts have brought updates to the dance studios and theatres. We highly recommend catching an event at the Buchanan Center during your time in Laramie. Performances are happening regularly in this department, so be sure to check the box office for tickets.
