Laramie has everything from softball fields and swimming tournaments to rodeo arenas and tennis courts. For additional details on our facilities, please see below.

Basketball

War Memorial Stadium

Home to the Wyoming Cowboys, War Memorial Stadium holds nearly 30,000 fans and is a sight to behold on game days. This facility is also used in partnership with Wyoming High School State Athletic Association each fall to host high school football championships for each division. During the championships, teams have access to the Indoor Practice Facility as well as parts of the Wildcatter Suites.

Arena-Auditorium

Home to the Wyoming Cowgirl and Cowboy basketball teams, the Arena-Auditorium has the distinction of being the highest NCAA Division I basketball venue in the country at an elevation of 7,220 feet. It is a 200,000 square-foot building with an indoor seating capacity of 11,612 which is the largest in Wyoming.

Softball Baseball Fields 

In 2020, Laramie hosted the girls state softball tournament, utilizing all of the baseball and softball fields in town in partnership with the City of Laramie. The event hosted over 50 teams and nearly 1500 attendees.

Swimming

Each year, Laramie rotates high school state swimming championships with Gillette, alternating boys and girls teams. The swimming tournament is held at Laramie High School which is home to one of the nicest pools and swimming facilities in the state.

Cowboy Turf Wars

Every year in January, Laramie Soccer Club hosts Cowboy Turf Wars in Laramie. The tournament brings an average of over 1500 attendees each year and the event is held at the indoor facilities of the Laramie Soccer Club.

UW Tennis Complex

One of the premier tennis facilities in the Rocky Mountain Region, the UW Tennis Complex is a state-of-the-art venue for Cowgirl tennis and the City of Laramie. There are six indoor courts, public locker rooms and restrooms, and large viewing areas. The eight outdoor courts are in the process of being repaired.

Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex

A scenic soccer and track & field venue with seating for more than 700 fans. The facility also features jumping pits, throwing rings, locker rooms, and fan amenities.

Albany County Fairgrounds

The Grandstands Arena at the Albany County Fairgrounds has a capacity of 2,500 fans and holds Mr. T Xtreme Bulls and a PRCA Rodeo annually. There are also many indoor facilities and barns where the Albany County Fair takes place each year with livestock judging and more.

Outdoor Recreation

Pilot Hill is immediately outside of town with many hiking, biking, and horse riding trails which are used annually in premier mountain biking and foot races. The Medicine Bow National Forest lies east and west of Laramie with atving, snowmobiling, skiing, nordic skiing, hiking, biking, rock climbing, fishing, and more.
