The Black 14 & First Amendment Panel Discussion
On Oct.17, 1969, fourteen football players were dismissed from the UW football team for asking to wear black arm bands during the upcoming game against BYU as a form of civil protest against both personal and institutional racism of the time. In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of “The Black 14”, nine players will return to campus to be honored and have the opportunity to share their story 50 years later.
