COVID-19 Status Update
Laramie Museums may be subject to closures and adjusted hours due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. As of now, the Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site, University of Wyoming Geological Museum, University of Wyoming Art Museum, University of Wyoming Anthropology Museum, and Historic Train Depot Museum are open to the public for regular tours. All monuments and landmarks are also open. Please check ahead for updated hours of operation.
The American Heritage Center is open to faculty and students by appointment. The University of Wyoming Planetarium may be reserved for private shows.
The Laramie Plains Museum at the Historic Ivinson Mansion and Wyoming Women’s History House are closed to tours, however, the Carriage House gift shop and grounds of the Ivinson Mansion are open.

DirectionsDescription: Completed in 1882 at a cost of $65,000 this monolithic 60-foot high granite pyramid was built by the Union Pacific Railroad Company. It stands on the highest elevation (8,247 feet) of the original transcontinental route. It was sculpted by University of Wyoming art professor Robert Russin in 1959 to commemorate the highest point on the Lincoln Highway.
