A sunny, funny musical about love ushers in the 64th year of the Snowy Range Summer Theatre season during a two-weekend period later this month.
Presented by the University of Wyoming Department of Theatre and Dance, the 2017 summer season features “The Fantasticks,” a family-friendly, funny and romantic musical about a boy, a girl, two meddling parents and a wall.
Directed by Assistant Professor Kevin Inouye, “The Fantasticks” runs June 15-17 and June 23-24 at 7:30 p.m., and also at 2 p.m. June 25 in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Thrust Theatre.
Tickets are $10 for the public and $7 for students, senior citizens and children over the age of 5. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. For tickets and information, call (307) 766-6666 or go online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.
Called “the perfect musical” by the Wall Street Journal, “The Fantasticks” has enchanted audiences all over the world since Dwight Eisenhower’s presidency. Each generation, from bobby-soxers to flower children to Gen Xers to cyberkids, has embraced its universality.
“‘The Fanstasticks’ is a charming and deceptively simple little story,” Inouye says. “It’s innocent yet wise, honest yet steeped in theatrical pretense, and, for many of us, it reminds us of earlier times in our lives.”
